A label that says “tested for low irritation” doesn’t guarantee anything for skin like mine.
I put a shampoo on that carried exactly that claim — tested for low irritation — and it stung anyway. Not dramatically, not enough to send anyone running, but enough that I knew immediately: whatever standard that label was tested against, it wasn’t built for skin that reacts easily.
That was the moment I stopped trusting labels as a starting point. A claim on a bottle tells you what passed someone else’s test, on someone else’s skin, under someone else’s definition of “low irritation.” It doesn’t tell you what happens on yours.
So I started building my own standard instead — not by trusting what a label promised, but by testing everything the way I’d test it for my own reactive skin first.
I’ll be sharing the story of how this next project came together, one piece at a time. Follow @qiagain.skin on Instagram or subscribe on YouTube to follow along.
